about

Keren Kamah

Established in 2001, Keren Kamah provides vital support to disadvantaged families in Zichron Yaakov. These families, identified by the Social Services of the municipality, receive weekly food basics at a local grocery store. All efforts are made to keep their shopping experience respectful and convenient, so that the recipients of this support can maintain their honor.

In addition to food basics, which is our primary mission, Keren Kamah also allows for a portion of our annual budget to help those with necessary expenditures that National Health Services don’t cover, including dental care, hearing aids, eyeglasses and more.

How is Keren Kamah funded? Keren Kamah is funded by you! We receive our funding from donations from generous individuals of the Dati Leumi Community of Zichron Yaakov. Every Purim, Keren Kamah organizes a community wide Mishloach Manot fundraising campaign. The success of this campaign provides us with approximately 50% of our annual budget. We also appeal to the community during the High Holiday season and at Passover.

Who gets help? The families that receive our help are identified by the Social Services and cross the wide demographic borders of Zichron Yaakov. They receive help based on need, regardless of religious identification, age, gender, or neighborhood. Each family receives the regular food stipend for 3 months, and then a new rotation of families is chosen. This allows us to provide a temporary boost to as many families as possible throughout the course of the year.

Who runs Keren Kamah? Keren Kamah is run entirely by volunteers and is committed to full transparency. All proceeds are donated to those we support.

How can I help? There are several levels of support. We deeply appreciate all donations, no matter how small or large. We hope that you will become a regular contributor, as, unfortunately, in light of the growing need in recent times, we have had a greater demand for our services than ever.

A donation of 250 shekels provides food basics to one family for one week,

500 shekels provides for 2 families for one week,

And 1,000 shekels provides for 1 family for an entire month!

The Mishloach Manot project has a variety of participation levels that contribute to it being our most important fundraising endeavor of the year. Please email us for more information and to participate in this fun and meaningful community project.

In addition, you can also contribute specifically to those families impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, at any level.

General donations will go to the area of greatest need and allow us flexibility to support the families of Zichron Yaakov.
